Two local nonprofits benefit from KMR support
KMR Group Foundation’s support of two nonprofits, CDM Services and Share, created a unique opportunity in 2013. At the time, Share, which is dedicated to helping the hungry and homeless, was nearing completion of a five-year renovation of its new office and warehouse.
CDM, which is the region’s largest provider of in-home care, was looking for land to expand its operations. By using smart business principles, KMR was able to satisfy the needs of both deserving organizations with one unique plan.
It started with KMR donating $150,000 to CDM. The agency matched that amount and used the funds to purchase a two-acre parcel owned by Share. CDM intends to use the land, which is adjacent to Share’s operation, for its new headquarters and has a capital campaign underway to fund the expansion.
Share used the $300,000 it received from the property sale to CDM for the final stages of its renovation and expansion. KMR also donated an additional $350,000 to Share to help complete its capital campaign to remodel the former bowling alley.
