It has been my absolute privilege to serve as a volunteer to support the blind and visually impaired athletes that participate in the sporting opportunities offered by NWABA. I am
touched by the athletes’ courage, determination and passion, as well as honored by the trust they give to the volunteers who help them into boats or maneuver a mountain trail.
Through this experience, I have watched lives change as athletes engage in physical activity, achieve success and build confidence that stretches well into other aspects of their lives. Similarly, my life has changed immeasurably through an empathetic understanding of the challenges the blind and visually impaired face, the respect of how courageously they overcome these challenges and the joy of many new friendships.
