Julia, the Vancouver teen who left town to hone her culinary skills at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York, has landed at one of the most celebrated restaurants in New York City.
Julia graduated from the CIA after receiving a scholarship from the KMR Group Foundation and is now cooking at Eleven Madison Park.
“Eleven Madison Park, which opened in 1998, now ranks among the most alluring and impressive restaurants in New York,” wrote Frank Bruni, former restaurant critic for the New York Times.
“KMR did much more than just throw a scholarship at me,” she said. “They have stayed in touch with me every step of the way and has given me so much encouragement and moral support.”
Kate Jones, KMR Co-Founder and Executive Director, recently dined at Eleven Madison Park and said the staff was enamored with Julia’s skills.
“I felt very proud that we were able to help in her education that led to the start of a wonderful career,” Jones said.
Julia’s ultimate career goal hasn’t changed since receiving the KMR scholarship. She still wants to return to Clark County and open her own catering business.
