The music, food and wine created a festive atmosphere, but walking amidst pallets of food in the Clark County Food Bank warehouse reminded guests gathered for the third annual Taste & See charity event why they support this community organization.
Donations poured in during the live auction, but the audience’s generosity kicked into high gear when auctioneer Randy Goecke opened the special appeal segment of the auction. The opportunity to pledge cash was immediate as one paddle was quickly raised at the $25,000 level and from there Goecke was shouting out paddle numbers as fast as he could as he moved through the various giving amounts.
The KMR Group Foundation was honored to be the Mission Sponsor of the event, joining a host of Clark County businesses that made the evening possible.
The food bank distributed almost 4 million pounds of food in 2012, and children now account for almost 40 percent of its recipients. Along with providing emergency food boxes, the staff provides cooking classes to teach people how to prepare nutritious meals with the food they receive.
